CLINICAL AND THERAPEUTIC ASPECTS OF OBESITY
Abstract:
Obesity is best defined as the presence of an abnormal absolute amount or relative proportion of body fat. The most serious medical conditions associated to obesity are type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, coronary artery disease, respiratory disease, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis and cancer. The treatment of obesity has three important aspects: changing the lifestyle (diet, physical exercises), pharmacologic therapy and surgical treatment.
