METHODS FOR TOOTH DECAY PREVENTIONWITH SYSTEMIC AND LOCAL APPLICATION
Abstract:
The effect of caries prophylaxis methods is
based primarily on the mechanical cleaning and on
auxiliary methods of oral hygiene, but also on the action
of local antibacterial substances. Another important
component of prophylaxis lies within the
carioprophylactic effect of fluorine, the latter being
administered both systemically (by fluoridation of water,
food or fluorine tablets), and locally (as part of
toothpastes, mouth rinses, gels or varnishes), where its
effect has been proved to be far more important.
