EPIDEMIOLOGICAL AND RISK FACTORS FOR CHILDREN BORN FROM HYPERTENSIVE MOTHERS
Abstract:
Hypertensive disorder in pregnancy is one of the most important issues in obstetrics with great consequences on both the mother and the fetus.(1) The National High Blood Pressure Education Program Working Group on High Blood Pressure in Pregnancy classifies pregnancy-related hypertension as follows: chronic hypertension, preeclampsia-eclampsia, preeclampsia superimposed on chronic hypertension, gestational hypertension.(1,2) In Romania, neonatal mortality accounts for over 50% of infant mortality and is striking by the increased mortality of newborns with low birth weight.(3) We organized a retrospective observational case-control study that included the clinical cases in the Maternity Hospital of Sibiu Clinical County Emergency Hospital in the past 2 years. The aim of the study is to evaluate the epidemiology and risk factors of newborns from hypertensive mothers in the Maternity Hospital of Sibiu Clinical County Emergency Hospital.
