CORRELATION BETWEEN INTRA-ABDOMINAL PRESSURE AND CT ASPECTS IN SEVERE ACUTE PANCREATITIS
Abstract:
Acute pancreatitis is one of the main causes of intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome. The aim of this study is to identify the correlation between intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) and CT severity index and to demonstrate their importance in the prediction of the severity of acute pancreatitis. 64 patients, with the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis, have been included in our study, from October 2011 to May 2014. To classify the severity of acute pancreatitis we also use as prognostic indicators Ranson scoring and APACHE II scoring. A statistical relationship was observed between maximum intra-abdominal pressure and CT severity index in acute pancreatitis. Intraabdominal pressure is an early, cheap prognostic marker and easily obtained.
