In the last 2 decades, exciting new developments have led to the success in dentistry of CADCAM technology. Thus, the objectives of this material are to describe a practical situation, insisting mainly on the technological aspects, regarding the use of CAD-CAM technology in obtaining the wax pattern of the metallic infrastructure for fixed prosthetic restorations. The creation of virtual pattern using digital design and its transformation into wax by milling from a special wax block is described (subtractive CAD-CAM technique).
