FOOTPRINTS OF INSIGHT: UNRAVELING DIABETIC FOOT RISK FACTORS, A RETROSPECTIVE STUDY
Abstract:
Diabetes is a significant health issue in the twenty-first century. Diabetes is linked to 4.2 million annual fatalities and a significant financial strain on healthcare systems. Diabetic foot syndrome is a significant late consequence of diabetes, causing diabetic foot ulcers and nontraumatic amputations. Approximately 25% of diabetic patients experience foot issues, and diabetic foot ulcers and amputations are the most expensive late complications. Diabetic patients with foot ulcers face a 10-20 times higher amputation risk and higher mortality risk compared to those without diabetes. To prevent diabetic foot disease, regular foot examinations, risk classification systems, and early detection methods are needed. Additionally, identifying risk factor profiles to identify patients at high risk of foot disease is also essential.
