Abstract:
Being considered a rare form of malignant neoplasm, stromal tumours are part of sarcomas group, they account for ~5% of all sarcomas (1), which develop from the supporting tissues of the body and have as a starting point special cells located in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract, called interstitial cells - described by Cajal. Although this type of tumour formations poses the problem of diagnosis, when it is made early and surgical and oncological treatment is prompt, the prognosis improves considerably.
